Depressing and Dishonorable Zidane's World Cup Performance

I have high favor for Zinedine Zidane, the French football national player, but that was before when he's still playing for Real Madrid together with famous players like David Beckham and Brazil's Ronaldo. After his depressing performance at the 2006 World Cup, I begun to wonder if he's the ever steadfast Zidane who played during the World Cup championship game? Was he under the influence of drugs when he committed that headbutt on that Italian player?

I thought he is a trouper already, but what he had shown in that game is nothing but silly gesture. Although he was provoked, he should not have retaliated because it would cause the bout for them. As a trouper of numerous bouts and recipient of countless awards and recognition, Zidane should have acted like a true veteran, but he failed. It would have been a sweet win for the French people if France went on to win that intangible World Cup trophy and honor. After the bout, Zidane would have been wondering what he had done wrong, nevertheless, he cannot do anything about it. Worst, he will end his football career with a dishonorable and depressing performance like that. I suspect if he will disremember that day -- the day France let World Cup slip away from their hands.
