Yves Saint Laurent As An Eminent French Master

The fashion enterprise around the globe recognizes numerous French designers that gave significant and refined fashion contributions to the world. Always on the list of notable and famed French designers is none other than the fashion stylist Yves Henri Domat Mathieu-Saint Laurent.

Once worked at the fashion company of Dior, Saint-Laurent, together with business partner Pierre Berge, came up with his own collection of designer clothes that are now known as the famous YSL initials. During the years 1960s to the 1970s, the fashion house popularized fashion designs like the then famous tweed suites, beatnik look, high boots, as well as tight pants. Saint Laurent acclaimed figures were French actress Catherine Deneuve and Anglo-Irish model Loulo de La Falaise. Meanwhile, the YSL cloth collection house was bought by Sanofi, a pharmaceutical company, in 1993. The popular Gucci, however, bought YSL house in 1999. A new designer was preferred to handle the designs of the ready-to-wear apparels of YSL, while Saint Laurent came up with his famous haute couture collection. Due to the irrevocable criticisms received by the YSL collections, drug abuse, and poor health, Gucci and Saint-Laurent closed down YSL's acclaimed couture house. Today, Stefano Pilati continued the YSL company after Tom Ford retired in year 2004.
